A motionless figure stands, looking out across an idyllic lake, appearing to be absorbed by her surroundings, and attempting to maintain a sense of balance and peace. There is however a feeling of uncertainty throughout as to what may happen next to disturb the calmness.
Gemma Copp, is a Welsh artist who predominately works within the moving-image, often filming in isolated and secluded places or places perceived to be so by the viewer. Her works aim to raise a flux of visceral emotions relating to identity and basic human emotions and concerns. Copp has shown work nationally and internationally, in film festivals and galleries, and has recently exhibited work at the Mission Gallery in Swansea, the Talbot Rice Gallery in Edinburgh and at the Mannheim Film Festival in Germany.
